Day 1: Galveston, Texas

This 7 Night Western Caribbean Cruise with Royal Caribbean, leaves out of the Galveston Port. The port itself is quite old, allow a lot of time to get through security and onto the ship. Royal Caribbean has announced that it will be upgrading the port which is greatly needed.

Day 2 & 3: Cruising

Your first two days on the ship will be spend entirely on board, use this time to explore the ship, relax and enjoy a Pina Colada by the pool. The Liberty of the Seas is a Royal Caribbean Freedom-class cruise ship which first set sail on May 2007. The ship has 15 decks and accommodates 3,634 passengers served by 1,360 crew. There is a lot to see and do on board not to mention all of the organized activities to keep you busy.

Day 4: Roatan, Honduras

Today the ship will dock in Roatan, Honduras, I chose to book a beach day at the Sol Y Mar Beach Club. The 9 acre private beach club offers a range of packages through the ship and has, several restaurants and bars, and amenities such as beach chairs, palapas, showers, changing rooms, lockers, and WiFi.

Day 5: Belize City, Belize

Today the ship will not technically dock, it will drop anchor off the coast of Belize City. You can choose to spend you day in the City which is a short 15 minute tender ride away, or you can take a boat ride to the beautiful, private oasis of Starfish Island. If you are debating your choices I would highly recommend booking in Starfish Island, Belize City itself is not great and doesn’t have any nice beaches.

Starfish island is an uninhabited private island. It has a bar, restaurant, volley ball court, restrooms and plenty of lounge chairs and palapas to laze under.

Day 6: Cozumel, Mexico

Deciding what excursion to do in Cozumel can be difficult as there are a range of diverse activities to choose from. I opted for the cenotes and snorkel with turtles tour, I was not disappointed.

For those of you who don’t know what a cenotes is, they are underground sinkholes, some of them are open like lakes and others are completely underground with only a very small opening. Fun Fact, there are over 6,000 cenotes in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. On this tour you will get to experience both types as listed above which is a real treat.

In addition to swimming in the cenotes, you will have the chance to swim with the turtles in a protected reef area. Watch these majestic creatures float by you and keep an eye out for the large barracuda that hang around the area.
